Food processing in Imperialism processes four units of raw food into two units of canned food, with the help of two labor units.

The building that takes that name appears in the top left of the "Give Industry Orders" screen. Unlike the six main processing buildings, it does not preserve orders from one turn to the next.

Converting two grain, one fruit, and one meat, which will feed four people, into product that will feed only two is intrinsically uneconomical. It should be the last thing you consider doing with idle labor unless you see an immediate or pending need for canned food for attracting immigrants or you have plenty of raw food and are desperate for cash.
